Ghana Football Starts On October 30 – Akufo-Addo

The President of Ghana has announced that the Ghana Premier and the Division One League will resume on Friday, October 30, 2020.

This was made known in the seventeenth address on the measures taken to address COVID-19.

According to him, the start of the league will be subject to testing of all footballers and technical officials of the various football clubs across the country.

The President said no spectators will be expected at the training grounds of the various clubs and spectatorship during match days will be twenty-five per cent of the capacity of the stadium to allow for social distancing.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said other sporting disciplines will be looked at subsequently.

The Ghana Premier League, which has reached its matchweek 15 stage was called off in adherence to protocols the government put in place when Ghana recorded her earlier cases.

“The Ghana Football Association following the directives given by the President of the Republic on Sunday, March 15, 2020, has suspended all its competitions with immediate effect until further notice,” the GFA announced via its official website.
